Sùil air: Urras a’ Chlò Hearaich // Case Study: Harris Tweed Authority

On Seachdain na Gàidhlig, with support from the Small Grants Fund (Bòrd na Gàidhlig), the Harris Tweed Authority created a social media reel video each day that covered various aspects of the industry and culture surrounding it, featuring various people involved in the day-to-day aspects.

They also wanted to showcase people involved and parts of the processes rarely seen in front of the camera – many of whom speak Gaelic during their work/role.

They began with covering the historical side of things, showing archival footage blended with an HTA board member giving important info. They also spoke to factory warpers, owners, weavers and more as the week went on.

All went according to plan and they had some good viewing figures across our social media channels and good feedback also. The videos will remain on their social channels permanently and will continue being viewed by Harris Tweed fans worldwide, having already gone over the 50,000 views mark.

They hope it will inspire people to learn more about Gaelic and Harris Tweed, and it led nicely into an Oral Histories project they undertook later.
