Air Seachdain na Gàidhlig, le taic bho Mhaoin nan Tabhartas Beag (Bòrd na Gàidhlig), chùm Meur Dhùn Èideann den Chomunn Ghàidhealach cèilidh teaghlaich ann an Dùn Èideann. Phàigh an t-airgead airson còmhlan cèilidh, agus thug e an cothrom do dh’òigridh a bha fileanta sa Ghàidhlig ceòl a chluich do chloinn a bha gu math nas òige. ‘S e còmhlan traidiseanta th’ ann am Bùrach, anns a bheil clann a chaidh tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig a tha uile a-nis san oilthigh. Fhuair iad eòlas air a bhith a’ cluich air beulaibh dhaoine agus theagasg iad na sèistean de dhà no thrì òrain Gàidhlig.

Bha teaghlaichean le clann gu math òg taingeil gun d’ fhuair iad cothrom pàirt a ghabhail ann an Seachdain na Gàidhlig agus chòrd e riutha gur ann aig 2f-4f a bha an cèilidh oir bha sin freagarrach dhaibh. Chòrd an ceòl riutha gu mòr agus bha a h-uile duine a’ dannsa fad an fheasgair, le 80 aig an tachartas uile-gu-lèir. Bha na com-pàirtichean uile air an dòigh leis a’ chòmhlan agus dh’fhairich iad fàilte bhlàth bhon chomataidh.

On Seachdain na Gàidhlig, with support from the Small Grants Fund (Bòrd na Gàidhlig), An Comunn Gàidhealach (Meur Dhùn Èideann) held a family cèilidh in Edinburgh. The funding paid for a ceilidh band, and gave the opportunity to fluent Gaidhlig speaking youngsters to perform for the much younger children. Bùrach are a folk band comprised of former GME pupils, all now studying at university. They were able to gain performance experience, and to teach some choruses of well known Gaelic songs.

Families with very small children felt they had participated in Seachdain na Gàidhlig and were grateful for the family-friendly timing of 2pm-4pm. The music was very much enjoyed and the dancefloor was full during the cèilidh dances all afternoon, with 80 people at the event altogether. The attendees were impressed with the youth who performed and commended the lovely warm atmosphere of the event.
