Seachdain na Gàidhlig
World Gaelic Week
Seachdain na Gàidhlig is facilitated by Hands Up for Trad, Scottish Charity No 035 190.
To help teachers and young people engage with Seachdain na Gàidhlig, we have collated a comprehensive selection of resources in partnership with educational publishers, Twinkl Alba. The activities and resources include teacher planners, suggested content and activities aimed at both primary and secondary levels for both Gàidhlig medium and Gaelic Learners – ensuring that all children and teachers can get involved, whether they are fluent or just starting their journey with the language.
We would love you to join us for our most ambitious Seachdain na Gàidhlig yet, and celebrate the richness and vibrancy that Scottish Gaelic brings to life in Scotland and beyond.
We will be running free, daily online workshops for school children of all ages, tailored to both English Medium Education (EME) and Gaelic Medium Education (GME) schools, throughout Seachdain na Gàidhlig | World Gaelic Week from 19th – 25th February 2024.
Each daily session will last approximately 30 minutes, and will be hosted and facilitated by fluent Gaelic speaker, singer and presenter Joy Dunlop, and will include:
Schools are encouraged to attend as many sessions as they can throughout the week, but are not required to attend all sessions to have an enjoyable experience.

All participating pupils can receive a Seachdain na Gàidhlig | World Gaelic Week 2024 certificate available to download and print from Twinkl.
A distinct programme providing training, support and resources to equip teachers with the necessary Gaelic language skills and teaching methodology to deliver Gaelic as L2 or L3 from Early to Second Level in the primary school.
A website for parents and children interested and involved in Gaelic education, by Stòrlann. This site is bursting with games, stories, audio and much more to help you enjoy the experience of learning Gaelic, whatever your age or ability!
Songs, backing tracks, lyric sheets and much more to support learners, teachers and anybody else wishing to learn some Gaelic. This resource is aimed at beginners and supporting delivery of Gaelic within schools.
