‘Come and Try’ our family fun afternoon of Gaelic themed activities to celebrate World Gaelic Week 2026! Learn some Gaelic with Gaelic songs and games, crafting activities for all of the family, learn about our local Gaelic place names, listen to live traditional music and we’ll, have some ceilidh dancing too. Come for the whole afternoon or just for a little while. No need to book so just turn up. All welcome!
All children must be accompanied by an adult.

This is a big day out in which children will mix across authorities and work in teams doing orienteering, outdoor team building through immersion.
Gaelic version of the animation Yoyo and the little Auk with an RSNO with an introduction and Q&A session with one of their Gaelic musicians and a staff member.
They will talk about the instruments behind the characters and what to listen out for in the story.
This would last about 1 hour

Tayvallich Primary School is excited to welcome you to their World Gaelic Week Celebration ‘Play and Language’. Led by students from the school, this community event will be a chance for the Tayvallich community to learn, play and practice their Gaelic language skills. All welcome to the village hall for games, music, tea, coffee, cakes and poetry!

Open the door into a day of Gaelic language and culture through dance and song, as we connect with our wonderful friends in Cape Breton!

Join Frank McConnell and Jen Wren (plus other special guests), in a fun and social day that celebrates Gaelic as a living culture — best learned by joining in! Prepare for a lively and exciting day of workshops including puirt-a-beul (singing for dancing), Cape Breton step-dancing, stories of Scotland’s dance heritage, and formations of Cape Breton Square Sets.
Our event is free and intergenerational with no experience needed. Workshops are bilingual and welcoming for complete beginners, learners and fluent speakers/movers/singers alike.
Come for the whole day or drop in for the sessions that spark your curiosity.
