Bidh Liam Crouse, oileanach PhD aig Tobar an Dualchais agus Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, a’ toirt seachad òraid air beatha Iain Peatarsan agus na clàraidhean a rinn e ann am Beàrnaraigh mar phàirt den obair a bh’ aige aig Sgoil Eòlais na h-Alba. B’ ann à Beàrnaraigh a bha Iain agus rinn e clàraidhean san eilean eadar 1965 agus tràth anns na 1980an. Cluichidh Liam taghadh de clàraidhean Iain bho làrach-lìn Tobar an Dualchais mar phàirt den tachartas. Thèid an tachartas a chumail ann an co-bhonn le Comunn Eachdraidh Bheàrnaraigh agus bidh e anns a’ Ghàidhlig, le geàrr-chunntas sa Bheurla bho àm gu àm ma tha feum air. Bidh tì, cofaidh is bèicearachd ri fhaotainn. Tha an tachartas seo saor an asgaidh agus tha e air a mhaoineachadh le Seachdain na Gàidhlig tro Mhaoin nan Tabhartas Beag, le taic bho Bhòrd na Gàidhlig.

Liam Crouse, PhD student with Tobar an Dualchais and Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, will be giving a talk about the life of Iain Paterson and the recordings he made in Berneray during his time as a fieldworker at the School of Studies. Iain was born and raised on the island and he made a large number of recordings there between 1965 and the early 1980s. Liam will play a selection of Iain’s recordings from the Tobar an Dualchais website as part of the event. The event is being organised in collaboration with Berneray Historical Society and will be held in Gaelic, with summaries given in English if required. Tea, coffee and home baking will be available and it is a free event which is funded by Seachdain na Gàidhlig’s Small Grants Fund with support from Bòrd na Gàidhlig.
