Sùil air: Urras a’ Chlò Hearaich // Case Study: Harris Tweed Authority

Air Seachdain na Gàidhlig, le taic bho Mhaoin nan Tabhartas Beag (Bòrd na Gàidhlig), chruthaich Ùghdarras a’ Chlò Hearaich sreath de bhideothan airson gach latha den t-seachdain air na meadhanan sòisealta aca a thug sùil air a’ ghnìomhachas agus air a’ chultar mun cuairt air, agus air na daoine an sàs san obair làitheil.

Bha iad airson pàirtean dhan obair nach tèid fhaicinn cho tric a shealltainn, agus bhruidhinn iad ri daoine a bhios a’ conaltradh sa Ghàidhlig nan obair làitheil.

Thòisich iad le beagan eachdraidh mun Chlò, a’ sealltainn dealbhan bhon tasglann agus stiùiriche bhon bhòrd a’ mìneachadh mar a thòisich cùisean. Bhruidhinn iad ri luchd-obrach agus ceannardan nan factaraidhean agus ri breabadairean mar a chaidh an seachdain air adhart.

Bha am pròiseact air leth soirbheachail le deagh mheasadh bho dhaoine a bha air na bhideothan a choimhead air na meadhanan sòisealta. Bidh iad ri fhaotainn a sin gu bràth agus gu ruige seo tha iad air còrr is 50,000 duine a ruigsinn air feadh an t-saoghail.

Tha iad an dòchas gum brosnaich iad daoine gus tuilleadh ionnsachadh mun Chlò agus mun Ghàidhlig, agus bha ceangal ann le pròiseact bheul-aithris a rinn iad às dèidh sin.

On Seachdain na Gàidhlig, with support from the Small Grants Fund (Bòrd na Gàidhlig), the Harris Tweed Authority created a social media reel video each day that covered various aspects of the industry and culture surrounding it, featuring various people involved in the day-to-day aspects.

They also wanted to showcase people involved and parts of the processes rarely seen in front of the camera – many of whom speak Gaelic during their work/role.

They began with covering the historical side of things, showing archival footage blended with an HTA board member giving important info. They also spoke to factory warpers, owners, weavers and more as the week went on.

All went according to plan and they had some good viewing figures across our social media channels and good feedback also. The videos will remain on their social channels permanently and will continue being viewed by Harris Tweed fans worldwide, having already gone over the 50,000 views mark.

They hope it will inspire people to learn more about Gaelic and Harris Tweed, and it led nicely into an Oral Histories project they undertook later.
