SUMMARY:Luadh Le Mire | Live Luadh (waulking songs) Performance
DESCRIPTION:Seinnidh sinn òrain-luaidh is mìnichidh sinn mun deidhinn. Bhiodh luadh air a dhèanamh le boireannaich\, mar bu thrice\, gus clò a neartachadh\, agus dh’fhàs an obair mhòr seo na b’ fhasa le òrain. Am measg nan Albannach a chaidh a Chanada\, bhiodh fireannaich ga dhèanamh cuideachd. \nWe will perform and explain about waulking songs\, Orain Luaidh. Waulking was done usually by women to thicken tweed by shrinking it\, and the lengthy task lightened by singing. Amongst Scots migrants to Canada\, men would sing too. \nGàidhlig agus Beurla | Gaelic and English

DESCRIPTION:Bidh Sgioba Iomain Ard-sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu a’ cur air dòigh Farpais nan Gàidheal aig a’ phàirc iomain againn aig Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu. Thig iad a Ghlaschu airson latha agus gheibh iad farpais\, cothrom-cluiche is cothrom coinneachadh ri Gàidheil òga eile. Bidh am pròiseact seo a’ tabhann cothrom air leth do dh’ òigridh aois 12-17 a bhith a’ cleachdadh Gàidhlig ann an àrainneachd spòrsail\, neo-fhoirmeil. Bidh e a’ neartachadh ìomhaigh agus inbhe na Gàidhlig ann an saoghal na camanachd. Bidh cothrom aig an òigridh seo a dhol air adhart gu sgiobaidhean Gàidhlig na h-Alba san am ri teachd. Bidh Gàidhlig aig a h-uile duine an-sàs le bhith a’ ruith na farpais\, agus aig rèitirean cuideachd. Tha sinn a dèanamh fiughair ri ur coinneachadh. \nSgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu shinty club is organising Gaelic-shinty tournament at our park at the Gaelic school in Glasgow. Young shinty stars with Gaelic will descend on Glasgow for a day and get a competition\, a chance to play and a chance to meet other young Gaels. This project offers a unique opportunity for young people aged 12-17 to use Gaelic in a fun\, informal environment. Following on from the work of Iomain Cholmcille this event will strengthen the image and status of Gaelic amongst young Gaels in sport. These young Gaels will have the opportunity to progress to Gaelic shinty teams in the future. Those involved in running the competition will have Gaelic\, as well as referees. We look forward to meeting all at SGG during Seachdain na Gàidhlig.

SUMMARY:Around the Virtual Hearth: A Modern Look at Traditional Gaelic Storytelling
DESCRIPTION:“A’ cheud sgeul air fear an taighe agus sgeul gu latha air an aoidh.”\n“The first story from the host and a tale until dawn from the guest.” \nThis podcast is a conversation about the tradition of Scottish Gaelic storytelling. Storytelling has been a central part of Gaelic life since time immemorial\, and remains to this day a part of Gaelic communal identity.  Stories have provided entertainment certainly\, but they have also been a means of sharing and expressing a common cultural heritage\, social history\, and values\, and of contemplating the human condition. The three guests in this dialog discuss not just the role and function of traditional tales in the past but what they still have to offer us in the present. \n“Stories can make spaces places.”\n~ Nancy Marie Brown\, Looking for the Hidden Folk \nThis podcast is a collaboration between three North American organizations serving the Scottish Gaelic community: An Comunn Gàidhealach Ameireaganach (the American Scottish Gaelic Society)\, the Hidden Glen Folk School of Scottish Highland Heritage\, and Sgoil Gàidhlig Bhaile an Taigh Mhóir (The Gaelic School of Baltimore.) \nLinks: \nhttps://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/facing-our-history-the-north-american-gael/id1576240635    https://open.spotify.com/show/6hS1AHwKrxeHCXpJeTYKOg
