An opportunity for an informal gathering to bring the Gaelic community together and encourage intergenerational fun. A fantastic opportunity to celebrate 25 years of GME in Oban. With performances from children and adults from the local community\, and an opportunity to learn some Ceilidh dancing with some Gaelic words too. Entry will be a silver donation and there will be additional activities for children and an opportunity to discuss the merits of GME should anyone wish.

We’ll come together for crafts\, games and SOFT PLAY on Sunday\, 25th Feb. We hope pupils from different areas will come so there will be an opportunity to meet new friends with Gaelic! (Parents will need to stay for the duration of the event\, and we will move location halfway through the event.) Funded by Seachdain na Gàidhlig’s Small Grants Fund with support from Bòrd na Gàidhlig.

DESCRIPTION:Còisir Alba was created to represent Scotland at the Eurovision Choir competition in Gothenburg but it proved such a positive experience\, that we have continued to explore further opportunities to promote our Gaelic language and culture on an international stage. As part of Seachdain na Gàidhlig\, we’re embracing the Do Chànan. Do Chothrom (Your Language. Your Opportunity) theme and holding a workshop with award-winning composer Sileas Sinclair\, to learn one of her fabulous Gaelic song arrangements. \n\n\nWe will finish the workshop with a ‘work in progress’ public performance of the piece\, supported by performances of our previous material\, and we’d love you to join us. This is open to anyone to attend and is free of charge. We will then close the day with an informal ceilidh\, and open the floor to impromptu performances from both choir members and the public. There may even be a wee deoch an dorais on the way out!\n\n\n\nThis will be held from 4-5pm in the Renfield Centre\, Glasgow. Tha sinn an dòchas ur faicinn ann / We hope to see you there!

It’s hoped that singers will come away from Seinn Leinn with the confidence and enthusiasm to participate in the most moving of Mòd events\, the Massed Choirs – a gathering of hundreds of Gaelic choir singers to mark the end of the National Mòd. \nThis year\, Oban will be treated to not one but TWO massed choir opportunities\, after the Local Mòd takes place on the first weekend of June and the National Mòd comes to Oban in October. \nSeinn Leinn will take place in the Rockfield Centre\, Oban on Saturday 24 February between 1pm and 4.30pm. \n// \nTha Seinn Leinn ag amas air blasad a thoirt do dhaoine den chàirdeas\, fois-inntin agus aoibhneas a thig le bhith a’ seinn ann an còisir\, gun a bhith fo uallach a dhol nad làn bhall.
